The Vacheron Constantin Overseas Reference 72040 is a highly collectible, first-generation luxury sports watch initially introduced in 1996. It bridges the gap between vintage charm and modern sports elegance, taking direct styling cues from the brand’s historic 222 model.

The variation featuring a striking deep blue dial, 37mm stainless steel case, and integrated bracelet represents one of the most sought-after configurations from this era.

• Case Size: 37mm diameter with an ultra-thin profile of around 8mm to 8.5mm thickness. Despite its 37mm specification, it commands a larger wrist presence due to its unique tonneau shape and a ~49mm lug-to-lug span.

• Movement: Powered by a chronometer-certified quartz movement (Vacheron Constantin Caliber 1310 / 1320). It is highly regarded by collectors for its extreme accuracy, reliability, and slim profile.

• Dial Aesthetic: A rich, iridescent navy/royal blue dial featuring an integrated date window at the 3 o'clock position. Depending on production year, early examples utilize tritium lume markers which gracefully transition into a warm "tropical" patina over time.

• Exterior Build: Crafted in high-grade Ατσάλι with a fixed bezel styled after the brand's iconic Maltese cross motif. It comes standard with a beautifully polished, integrated stainless steel link bracelet complete with a hidden double-security folding clasp.

• Water Resistance: Engineered for true sports durability, originally rated for up to 15 ATM (150 meters) of water resistance.
