  The "Jedi" moniker is an unofficial nickname rooted in vintage collecting culture. Renowned collector Chuck Maddox originally coined the name "Jedi" for the flat-shield Seamaster Ref. 145.024. However, during the famous 2007 Antiquorum "OmegaMania" auction, the catalog mistakenly labeled the chunky TV-shaped Ref. 176.005 as the "so-called Jedi". The name stuck within the collector community, and today dealers and enthusiasts widely use it to describe this exact 176.005 model.
