The Omega Speedmaster Dark Side Of The Moon Apollo 8 (Ref. 311.92.44.30.01.001) is a black ceramic chronograph that celebrates the 1968 Apollo 8 mission, the first human journey to the moon's far side. This specific reference was largely succeeded in 2024 by an updated Master Chronometer version (Ref. 310.92.44.50.01.001).
ΚΑΣΑ: 44.25mm diameter black zirconium oxide (ZrO2) ceramic with a brushed and polished finish.
Καντράν: Skeletonized black anodized aluminum featuring a laser-ablated surface that mimics the moon's cratered landscape.
Μηχανισμός: Omega Calibre 1869, a hand-wound movement (based on the 1861) with 48 hours of power reserve and lunar-textured bridges.
Strap: Perforated black leather with yellow rubber lining and a ceramic pin buckle.
Water Resistance: 50 meters.
Lunar Decoration: The movement is visible through both the skeletonized dial (representing the moon as seen from Earth) and the sapphire caseback (representing the "dark side" seen only by astronauts).
Signature Colors: High-contrast yellow accents are used for the chronograph hands and the "Speedmaster" logo.
Engravings: The caseback includes the mission date "DEC 1968" and the famous quote: "WE’LL SEE YOU ON THE OTHER SIDE".
Lume: Features a Super-LumiNova tachymeter scale on the ceramic bezel, allowing for low-light visibility.
