The Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore Chronograph Ref. 26470ST.OO.A104CR.01, affectionately nicknamed the "Elephant" by the watch community, is one of the most celebrated 42mm modern iterations of the iconic luxury sports watch line. Originally introduced in 2014, it earned its nickname due to its monochromatic, slate grey aesthetic paired with a substantial, muscular presence on the wrist.
Case Profile: 42mm diameter by 14.5mm thickness, crafted from brushed and polished stainless steel. It features black ceramic chronograph pushers and a screw-locked crown that updated the previous generation's rubber components.
Dial Aesthetic: A slate grey "Méga Tapisserie" patterned dial featuring black chronograph sub-registers (at the 6, 9, and 12 o'clock positions). It features white gold Arabic numerals with black luminescent coating and a framed, magnified date window at 3 o'clock.
The Movement: Powered by the in-house Audemars Piguet Calibre 3126/3840 automatic movement. It utilizes 59 jewels, operates at 21,600 vph, and offers a 50 to 55-hour power reserve driven by a 22-carat gold bidirectional rotor, visible through a sapphire crystal display caseback.
Hardware & Straps: Traditionally outfitted on a grey "hornback" alligator leather strap with a stainless steel pin buckle, though many collectors opt to swap it for a sporty black or grey OEM Audemars Piguet rubber strap.
Water Resistance: Rated for 100 meters.
