The Minerva Enicar "AOPA" Monopusher Chronograph is an exceptionally rare, oversized 45mm to 46mm vintage timepiece from the mid-1950s to early 1960s. This watch occupies an unusual space in horological history, utilizing high-grade Minerva pocket watch and cockpit instrumentation movements re-cased for pilot use. It is heavily sought after for its massive presence and distinct historical cross-branding.

Because these watches were originally produced in tiny quantities, they rarely surface at public auctions. However, collectors should exercise extreme caution. In vintage watch forums like the Enicar Forums and Vintage-Time, multiple examples of this exact configuration are widely considered by experts to be "marriage watches" or clever fabrications.

Many of these pieces surfaced in the early 2000s. They were built by taking authentic vintage Minerva 817 CH cockpit/aircraft clock movements and fitting them into newly fabricated oversized wristwatch cases with newly printed double-signed dials. While authentic vintage oversized Minerva pilot monoplushers exist from the WWII era, a true factory-born "Enicar-signed Minerva" version is heavily debated by brand purists.
  • Movement: Manual winding Caliber 817 CH (18 jewels). It features a single pusher (monopusher) configuration integrated directly into the winding crown.
  • Case Size: Oversized 45mm to 46mm stainless steel case, which was remarkably large for the mid-20th century.
  • Dial Architecture: Matte black dial featuring a two-register layout (small running seconds at 9 o'clock and a 30-minute chronograph counter at 3 o'clock) paired with highly legible luminescent Arabic numerals.
  • AOPA Connection: Associated with the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA), mirroring the early design ethos of high-legibility tool watches meant to be worn over thick flight jackets.
